Lost beauty is the title of my latest pamphlet published by creative thorp. After the more esoteric themes of Life, its a return to the landscape inspired poetry of previous publications, and I think its the strongest set yet. The cover photograph is the wonderful Kyles of Bute on the Cowal Peninsula and was taken by Mary Thorp in the summer of 2009. I’ve posted three of the poems from the pamphlet HERE and you can purchase copies at £8.50 at the creative thorp website.
I was also pleased and honoured to hear that artist Charlie O’Sullivan has based some of her work on my poetry. She is holding an exhibition at the Tighnabruiach Gallery in July. Her stunning new piece where my heart lies is inspired by a line from one of the poems in Lost Beauty.
Alongside the pamphlet is a new box-set of short pieces that complement the longer cycle. Secret Coast was inspired by the Cowal and the wonderful hospitality of Penny and Andrew at the Tighnabruiach Gallery. The poetry cards each carry an original short poem combined with one of Mary’s evocative photographic images and printed on our trademark Calisto Pearl card. Purchase Secret Coast at creative thorp for £9.50.
